Salary Sacrifice Car Scheme for Employees

An affordable and hassle-free way to drive a brand new car.

What is a salary sacrifice car scheme?

If your employer offers a salary sacrifice car scheme, you can drive a brand-new car by agreeing to sacrifice part of your monthly salary. You make big savings because the sacrifice is made pre-income tax and National Insurance contributions (NIC). Drive a car of your choice for less money and hassle than a personal lease, as insurance and maintenance are included.

Because the car is provided as a company benefit, you’ll also pay Benefit in Kind (BiK) on the use of the benefit. But don’t worry, BiK rates are low for electric and low-emission cars available on the scheme. For more information, read our BiK guide.

At the end of your chosen term, you’ll simply return the car, and your salary will go back to normal.

What’s included in the salary sacrifice car scheme?

  • Comprehensive insurance
  • Routine servicing and maintenance, plus tyre replacement (fair wear & tear only)
  • Breakdown cover

  • Early termination protection if your circumstances change
