CLM bristles in support of Movember charity
There are some dodgy-looking, unshaven desperados currently stalking the corridors of Newport Pagnell-based fleet management provider CLM – but the local damsels need not be too distressed, as it’s all in a good cause.
The reason for the bristling upper lips on 15 of CLM’s finest?
The Movember charity movement to raise awareness of testicular and prostate cancers – the unseen, often unmentioned but potentially lethal killers that haunt all men’s psyches – behind which so many men throw their weight, and their upper lips, at this time of year.
Throughout the month of November, men around the world succumb to the hairy, itchy feeling that they spend the other 11 months trying, sometimes painfully, every morning to avoid.
Then, at the end of the month, a few swift strokes of the razor and all is forgotten and returned to normal!
“There really is a serious message behind our typically inadequate – some would say pathetic, in certain cases – attempts to grow a moustache for Movember,” says CLM Movember team leader, Rob Heggie,
“The Movember Foundation is the leading global organisation committed to changing the face of men’s health around the world. ‘Mo Bros’ take part by changing their appearance and growing a moustache for the 30 days of Movember, to spark conversation and raise funds.
“However, the ladies can also play their part. ‘Mo Sista’s’ can commit to supporting the men in their lives, while helping to promote men’s health at the same time, by agreeing to put up with the impact of a bristling upper lip for the duration of the campaign!”
The Movember Foundation is committed to finding breakthrough solutions that produce tangible improvements in dealing with prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mental health.
And all donations received go to funding world class programmes that are saving and improving the lives of men.
“So while it all might seem like a bit of fun for 30 days, this really is a very worthy cause and one which we feel committed to lending our support – and our top lips – to,” adds Rob Heggie, whose day-time job is fleet controller.
So far, the CLM Movember team has so far raised £443 towards the charitable cause.
