CLM crew raises money for charity in MK Dragon Boat race

A crew of stalwarts from fleet management specialist, CLM, has raised more than £600 for charity after competing in the annual 50-team Milton Keynes Dragon Boat Festival.

Racing on Willen Lake against competitors from companies and organisations in the local area, the mixed CLM crew comprised 16 rowers and one drummer – claims executive, Jane Bartlett, who hammered out a beat Ringo Starr that would have been proud of, perched precariously on a narrow platform at the front of the 40ft boat.

Unfortunately, Jane’s valiant efforts were in vain, as the gallant crew failed to make it to the semi-finals, finishing several seconds off the pace in each of their three heats, and eventually coming in in 44th place. The CLM crew, wearing branded blue shirts kindly supplied by Goodyear Tyres, were cheered on by directors, staff and family members from the safety of the shore, and afterwards, everyone was delighted that the sum of £633.75 had been raised for the Age UK Milton Keynes charity.

Team organiser, David White, beaten but unbowed, said: “It was a great effort from the CLM team in what was our first attempt. Everyone really enjoyed themselves, and in the words of Arnold Schwarzenegger ‘we’ll be back!’.”
